British Recording Industry Removes YouTube Videos

Looks like YouTube is losing more content. Peter Ruppert, who founded Entertainment Media Research, points out that the British Phonographic Industry Limited (BPI) has requested that several videos be removed from the popular video-sharing site.

A search for "brit awards", for example, returns several results, but clicking on any of them reveals the message "This video has been removed at the request of copyright owner British Phonographic Industry Ltd. because its content was used without permission.

The BPI is the recording industry's trade association in the United Kingdom, similar to the United States' RIAA. The BPI recently recommended that copyright terms be extended from 50 to 95 years in the UK.

Neither YouTube nor the BPI was immediately available for comment. YouTube is declining to comment.
