Digg redesigns for video -- look ma, no page views!

Digg Social news ranking and de facto Web zeitgeist monitor Digg.com launched a new redesign today that makes it easier for viewers to watch videos without leaving Digg. Users can now watch videos from YouTube, Google video and Metacafe via an in-screen lightbox without leaving Digg's Web site. Very cool, and eerily similar to StumbleUpon's video experience.

Digg's redesign comes at a time when the page view metric is coming under increasing scrutiny. By streamlining the number of pages a user needs to click through, Digg has made a conscious choice to favor the users experience over the advertiser's desire for page views.
