YouTube on a Big Screen?

Sofatube Nirvana, they say, would be YouTube on your television, and I'm inclined to agree. Laughing just feels better when you're laying on a couch.

Now a new site called SofaTube is advertising themselves as one solution to viewing online video in your living room. The site allows you to search for videos across Revver and YouTube and view them on your monitor. The only difference is aesthetics, really -- the screen isn't cluttered with view counts and comments, and all the remaining navigation elements are larger. When you search for a video, the results are readable (barely) from a few more feet away.

Of course, SofaTube doesn't actually change YouTube's or Revver's video encoding bitrate -- that's a measure of the quality of video on the site. So if you're trying to view videos on a television or an HD screen, you're only going to get pixelated gobbleygook. All in all, looks like a somewhat useful site if you're either a) blind or b) have a computer set up at a party. Otherwise, soldier on.
