Three Thug Mice animates NY's LoEastSida
A superbly drawn and NSFW (language) animated series about trash-talking Chinatown gangster rodents Vik, Tik, and Brik, "Mice" is the handiwork of NY illustrator Steve Marcus, with voices supplied by graf legend Min-One, plus Queens rapper Kool G Rap, and controversial Biggie/Mobb Deep/Wu-Tang collaborator R.A. The Rugged Man. Promoted via a brief trailer on Heavy.com in 2004 (Marcus: "heavy.com stole it") and formerly a full page comic in The Source, Mice recently debuted as an independent 12-part mini-series: one to three-minute vignettes depicting various aspects of street life absurdity, from depictions of fast-talking crackheads ("life in the slo lane"), women tussling on the corner ("cat fight"), and bodega robberies ("taquitos banditos"). In a recent interview, Marcus suggested tentative plans to develop a feature length film. Highly recommended.
