David Lynch on On Networks
Interesting bit of online programming news emerged today at the OMMA Video conference in Los Angeles. Jen Gregono, chief content officer at On Networks, let slip during a panel discussion that her company recently signed mad-genius director David Lynch to a webisode series based on his mad-genius new book "Catching the Big Fish: Meditation, Consciousness and Creativity." Now if you're not familiar with the "Blue Velvet" visionary's fatalistic take on the future of film online (see clip above, go about 19 seconds in for the goods), you will note the irony of this deal. As for hooking a a figure who's not quite mainstream like Lynch, even Gregono admitted his participation could be challenging in attracting a sponsor: "That one might be a little more difficult given David." But how about that On Networks, which already has newly de-pregnated comedienne Amy Poehler delivering a webisode so earnest I suspect it may be satire, "Smart Girls at the Party."
